Laurel Leader

October 26, 2006

We supported Democrat James Rosapepe in the primary over incumbent Sen. John Giannetti in this district, which stretches from Laurel through Beltsville to College Park and includes part of western Anne Arundel. We have no intention of changing our mind.

Rosapepe remains an intelligent, involved public citizen who compiled an enviable record during his 11 years in the House of Delegates. As for the energetic but erraticGiannetti, his decision to become a Republican after his stinging primary defeat only makes him, as his critics have suggested, that much harder to trust.

Jim Rosapepe: "First rate, respected...involved, informed, effective...We support" him.

"We support James Rosapepe. He was a first rate, respected delegate for 11 years before resigning to become US Ambassador to Romania, and in the past couple of years has re-established himself as an involved, informed, effective public servant. He has been head of the Route 1 Task Force and a University of Maryland regent, among other positions....Rosapepe is the person we would rather have representing the district."
